This past Sunday The Fillmore was as festive as you can get for Halloween as a large contingent of Philadelphians dressed up and danced along to one-of-a-kind The B-52’s. Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson and Fred Schneider and their backing band rocked through the essential hits with their signature pizzazz.

Announcing early that next year will be their 40th anniversary, The B-52’s showed no signs of slowing down. With energy abound for an opening splash of “Cosmic Splash” into “Mesopotamia,” they had the crowd hooked from the beginning. They know to party, with their movements, including Pierson’s twirling or her cape and Schneider’s removal of his bra, though Halloween oriented, seem like they could be a part of any B-52’s concert experience. The sea of costumed revelers had waves of dancing follow The B-52’s from one tide to the next.

The main set closer of “Love Shack” and the night’s finale of “Rock Lobster” were fitting climaxes to a night of some of the most unique pop music to ever come into existence. The crowd certainly left sated ready to take the show’s life-affirming joy back into the world. And may The B-52’s spread their universal message of dance music for many more years to come.
