Beyond The Promised Neverland – Kaiu Shirai & Posuka Demizu (Viz Media)

Beyond the Promised Neverland is a collection of short stories by the original creator – author Kaiu Shirai – and manga artist Posuka Demizu. It is being released in North America on November 8th, 2022 by Viz Media.

If you are a fan of The Promised Neverland, as I am, you will love this special installment. Though the first four stories are unrelated, Shirai masterfully worked them to all somehow come together in the at the end in his first bonus story. This easily allows a novice to the manga series to pick it up and still become invested in the plotlines.

A highlight for me was the inclusion of the final bonus story which shows what the main characters are up to after the end of the original manga series. Emma, Norman, Ray, and the rest of their family are finally finding the freedom to do what they had always wanted. “Special Side Story: Dreams Come True” was an wonderful bonusand a delight to read. After seeing all of the hardships that befell this family, it was such a fufilling and happy experience to see them enjoying life.
