The Pretty Reckless rocked three sold out nights at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City this week. Their new album release Other Worlds was performed for eager crowds all three nights, with every square inch of the beautiful club-like venue filled with adoring fans. The anticipation for a night of rocking out grew as the minutes passed. As the flashing signal was sent from the stage to the sound board and the lights went dark, roars started filling the room.

New York native and lead singer of the band Taylor Momsen, alongside the great musicians Ben Phillips (guitar), Jamie Perkins (drums) and Mark Damon (bass), blew the roof off with their pure rock-and-roll spirit.

Opening the night with their hit track, “Death By Rock and Roll,” the band really kicked off the evening with a huge bang. Following the initial serotonin boost, The Pretty Reckless played killer tracks like “Make Me Wanna Die,” “Loud Love,” “Going To Hell” and “Heaven Knows.”The crowd, despite the lack of room, was jumping and living freely throughout their entire set, just proving the fact that music has no regulations. The power of music, right?

The amount of energy they put into their performances does not act as an excuse for the band to deliver a show that doesn’t keep you entertained. With Taylor and Ben going back-to-back during guitar solos to Taylor moving around as she absolutely hits the most powerful notes, the group kept the show lively. Rock and roll was truly the theme of the night, and being tired is for sure not so rock and roll; they made sure of it.

The band’s killer energy was present throughout the whole night. Overall, the band did an amazing job proving to the world that rock and roll is, in fact, not dead, all three nights. I was actually standing next to someone who came out to all of the shows. That’s some true die-hard dedication and very rock and roll. The Pretty Reckless are well-worth the hype and definitely need to be seen if they tour to an area near you.
